Microneedling

Microneedling has become a popular cosmetic procedure and we understand why. It’s safe for all skin types and consistently delivers superior clinical results to stimulate cell renewal and promote collagen and elastin production. In turn, hyperpigmentation, scars, fine lines and wrinkles can be greatly diminished with minimal downtime.

Frequently Ask Questions

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a cosmetic treatment used to address various skin conditions. The technique involves moving a pen-like device comprised of micro sterile needles over the skin. When passed back and forth across the skin, it creates controlled, microscopic injuries, which stimulates collagen. While the micro-channels are open, a Microneedling solution is topically applied and pushed into the skin to further promote healing and enhance the anti-aging benefits.

This minimally invasive treatment can be done on any area of the body, although the most requested areas are face, neck, décolletage and hands. Due to the small Microneedling tip, we find it especially beneficial for small areas around the eyes and lips to help with crepiness, dark circles and smoker’s lines. Stretch marks and surgical scars on the body can also be diminished with Microneedling.

When combined with PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin), the treatment is also used on the scalp to encourage hair growth.

Microneedling is scientifically evidenced and FDA-cleared technique. Although this is a simple and safe procedure, not all Microneedling treatments are the same. The speed of the device, the number of needles, the type of solution used, along with the level of the provider’s experience will determine the efficacy of the treatment. At Sahar Allure Med Spa, we use an advanced medical-grade, Microneedling device that meets the FDA’s regulatory compliance.

We use a pure hyaluronic acid containing no harmful ingredients such as parabens, sulfates and dyes which are commonly used in other microneedling solutions.

Incorporate with PRF (Platelet Rich Fibrin) – your own blood plasma – is another great option to add to Microneedling. The combination dramatically magnifies the rejuvenating effects of Microneedling with no risks related to rejection, allergies or other negative side effects of harsh chemicals.

Microneedling treatment is non-invasive, is performed quickly and is well-tolerated, with a quick recovery time. Immediately after the treatment, the skin will feel like a sunburn, which will dissipate after a few hours. Over the next 2-3 days, some swelling, redness, and dryness is normal. Some people may also experience light flaking as the cells are turning over. The downtime depends on how aggressive the treatment settings are.

We recommend that clients keep the skin well hydrated and protected with physical sunscreen. Clients may resume their normal skincare regiment, including any Retin-A, once their skin is back to baseline.

Microneedling can be safely repeated every 4-6 weeks until you achieve the desired results. For collagen induction, we recommend starting with 3-4 treatments, but with a minimum separation time of 4-6 weeks between treatments. For scar reduction an average of 3-6 treatments are recommended.

What we love about Microneedling is that almost anyone is a candidate for this treatment! Anyone who has healthy skin and wants to treat and improve conditions such as acne scaring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues, can consider Microneedling as an option.

People with skin diseases, active acne or have an unstable skin type are not ideal candidates for Microneedling treatment.
