The Benifits of Botox Treatment

One cannot disagree that wrinkles and fine lines are something that we all suffer from at some point in our lives and there are many creams and treatments to reduce and, in some c eliminate them. Some treatments are better than others at permanently removing the offending lines, with Botox (aka Dysport) amongst the most effective. In terms of popularity, Botox is one of the most commonly used treatments on the market for wrinkles, with a large number of people feeling that reducing facial lines offers the best route to a younger appearance. In the interests of awareness, we thought we’d just put a few facts together to demystify the facts behind the procedure and what it is used for.

How Does Botox Work?

Honestly speaking, Botox acts to disrupt the signals between the brain and facial muscles. So, if it is doing its job, the muscle will not move, even when told to do so via the body’s network of neurons. The net result is that a smoother complexion is achieved, as the facial movements that initially caused the wrinkles and lines no longer happen and so don’t get worse.

Is Botox Just Used Cosmetically?

Whilst the majority of people use Botox for the treatment of facial wrinkles, the medical benefits of the procedure are quite far-reaching, as it can improve and correct a range of different conditions. Some cosmetic, some not. The reduction of migraines is one useful purpose for Botox, as it can treat many of the triggers, rather than treating the migraine itself. The numerous micro muscles in the face can lead to the debilitating symptoms of a migraine, which are taken out of the picture with a series of injections. Botox can also be effective in overcoming what is known as ‘drooping brow’, which leads to the sufferer looking unhappy or fatigued, even when they’re not. Excessive sweating can also be corrected using the procedure, as it can be used to block the brain signals to the sweat glands, which for the typical sufferer are overactive, even when the body is at rest. The treatment can be applied around the sweat glands of the feet, hands, and armpits to stop this uncomfortable condition at bay.

Is Botox Safe And Pain-free?

It is important to mention that due to the nature of the treatment, there is some discomfort felt whilst it is happening, but in terms of needle pain, it is on the mild side. This is because the needles used are relatively small and any pain should be short-lived. Our technicians will normally use a topical anesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel anything at all. Safety-wise, Botox or to give it its full name ‘Botulinum Toxin’ is technically poisonous, but the amounts used are so small that the procedure is very safe.
