The Benifits of Microneedling

You may not be aware that the stress and strains of daily life can take their toll on your skin, leaving it looking tired, wrinkled, and in need of a boost. Air pollution and sun damage can also add to the problem, resulting in your skin looking and feeling like a shadow of its best. So, if you’re looking for something that can eliminate your fine lines and wrinkles that don’t cost the earth and isn’t painful, you should consider micro needling as a way to achieve, firmer, younger, and smoother-looking skin.

So, How Is Micro Needling Done?

Also referred to as collagen induction therapy, micro-needling encourages the production of collagen, leading to a strengthening of the epidermis. It involves the use of a wand that houses ultra-fine needles that cause ‘micro injuries’ when it passes over the skin, triggering the production of new collagen. Each injection also results in the production of elastin, as well as collagen, which is used to fill the hole caused by the microneedles. The procedure is virtually painless, has no known major side effects, and can result in visibly younger-looking skin in a relatively short space of time.

What Can I Expect From A Micro-needling Treatment?

During a typical micro-needling procedure, you’ll first have your face cleansed thoroughly with a topical cleanser, after which, a topical anesthetic is applied roughly half an hour before the main part of the treatment begins. This is followed by the application of a serum to help the needle glide over your skin, which will feel like a mild vibration and tingling when it is happening. What you’re feeling is the needles penetrating your skin, provoking the production of collagen and you might experience some slight bleeding for a few seconds, but you don’t need to worry about over, as it will heal very quickly. The whole thing should take no more than an hour and the skin around the treatment area might look a little red for a short period.

Are There Any Other Benefits To Be Had?

Absolutely. As well as being a relatively inexpensive treatment when compared with the thousands that can be spent on plastic surgery, micro-needling can be used to great effect in several different ways: Holding back the aging process – Micro needling not only reduces the existing fine lines and wrinkles present in the skin, but it is extremely effective in stopping new ones from forming. Also, if you combine the procedure with the use of antioxidant serums, your skin will look brighter and enjoy a more youthful and vibrant glow. Improvement of scar tissue – For those who suffer scarring due to surgery or acne earlier in life, micro-needling offers a lifeline for removing their unsightly effects. The procedure can break down the old scar tissue, triggering collagen and elastin production for much healthier-looking skin. Reduction of stretch marks – There are almost no known cosmetic treatments to help reduce the appearance of stretch marks, except that is for micro-needling, which is known to offer an improvement. If combined with other laser skin treatments.
